"My Nespresso coffee machine leaks water from the drawer"

One of the most common breakdowns of coffee makers Krups Nespresso Essence (XN2003).com piston wear. He piston is the piece where we place the capsule,.com the spare part in charge of "puncture" the capsule and introduce high-pressure water into it. When the Nespresso piston performs this puncture and injection process repeatedly, it ends up wearing out this main part of the coffee machine. The coffee, due to the wear of this replacement, in addition to coming out with less pressure through the normal outlet of the appliance, comes out through the part of the capsule collection box.

* Although this failure is the result of normal wear and tear on the part, the process can be speeded up if NON-original capsules are used with a plastic lid instead of aluminum; since this type of lid requires greater pressure from the coffee maker's piston.

In this tutorial, we are going to teach you how to change the piston of the Nespresso coffee machine that has become your faithful companion for years.

There are fans of running, there are fans of music and we are fans of coffee. If coffee is the best moment of the day for you, you cannot allow your Nespresso coffee machine to suffer a breakdown.

We get to work: make sure your Krups Nespresso Essenza coffee machine is unplugged, here we go!

Material needed for repair:

  • Torx 10 screwdriver
  • Torx 20 screwdriver
  • Small flat screwdriver
  • nose pliers

Time for a repair

30 - 40 minutes

To carry out this repair it is necessary to disassemble the upper casings of the appliance.

Step by step repair

disassembly

  • remove the 4 screws (using the Torx 10 screwdriver) on the base (on the bottom case)
  • Separate the caps side of the coffee pot
  • Remove the screws (Torx 20) that hold the mobile lever that activates the piston mechanism of the coffee maker
  • spread lever
  • Remove the upper screws of the cover that protects the piston and remove this cover
  • Remove the rear screw (only on some versions), which is located in the upper part of the tank socket
  • Remove screws that hold the piston to be able to remove the piece
  • To separate the piston from the rest of the coffee maker, it must be separated from the coffee outlet nose, which is attached to the piston
  • Pry the side tabs of the coffee spout with a flat screwdriver (due to heat and continued use, this part may break when handled)
  • Separate the feeding tube of the piston, with the help of the flat screwdriver, the fixing clip, you just have to pull it.

*The tube gasket always remains inside the piston, although it is not part of it. You have to remove it from inside the hole where the tube is inserted and place it at the end.

All that remains is to replace the piston with a new one and... we perform the same steps in reverse order

Mounting

  • place the tube (with the gasket at its end) in the piston bore
  • place the group fixing (holds with needle nose pliers and snaps into place
  • place piston in its place and pressurize the coffee outlet nose until it clicks.

* To fit the coffee spout, you have to push the piston back a little, place the piece and refit the piston.

  • Install the two front piston bolts
  • place the top cap with their screws
  • To place casings - covers- sides of the coffee maker
  • Tighten the 4 screws of the lower case of the Nespresso
  • place the drive lever (remember, they are the only two different screws, Torx 20)

With this repair we will have solved two problems:

Lack of pressure at the coffee outlet

Water dripping from the part of the box of the Nespresso Essenza coffee machine.

... And that's it. Changing the coffee maker piston is easier than it seems, although without the specific steps to follow it may seem like a bit of a hassle. We hope it has been helpful to you and we invite you to future blog posts on electrotodo.com

A greeting and good luck!
