The Bosch Athlet Symptom: Brush Sucks but Doesn't Rotate
The motor sucks normally, the light is on, but the lower roller is not moving. This is a common fault in the Bosch Athlet and has two main causes, with very different solutions.
Step 1: Clean the roller before opening it
Before disassembling anything, remove the roller and clean all hair, threads, and accumulated dirt from the axles. In many cases, the brush is simply mechanically blocked. If it still doesn't rotate after cleaning, the problem is electrical. It's time to get to work.
Step 2: Identify the electrical fault
- Severed cables: The repeated movement of the joint to clean under furniture fatigues the internal cables until they break. The outer insulation may appear intact, but the copper inside is broken.
- Burnt brush head motor: If the roller has been blocked by dirt for some time, the small motor in the brush head may have melted due to overheating: the motor wanted to turn, but it was impossible.
Repairing the cables requires disassembling the joint and precise soldering. If the solder is not perfectly fixed, the cable will break again with use. In most cases, changing the entire brush head or roller is faster, cheaper, and more durable.

It's time to check the rest of the wear components to avoid another breakdown in the short term:
- Central roller: If the bristles are worn or the axle is loose, replace it; it's cheap and essential for the vacuum cleaner.
- HEPA filter: A saturated filter forces the motor to work excessively and accelerates wear on the brush head and motor.
- 25.2V charger: Essential for the battery to charge at the correct intensity and for the electronics not to suffer.
- Replacement battery: If the autonomy has dropped significantly, it may be time to change it.
