For the correct operation of our Delonghi automatic coffee maker, it is necessary to carry out some maintenance, cleaning and descaling processes. In this way, our coffee maker will last longer, we will avoid breakdowns and costly repairs and we will always maintain optimal quality of our coffee.
The maintenance of the Delonghi Magnífica S coffee machine can be divided into two parts: daily/weekly care and periodic cleaning and decalcification.
Daily/weekly maintenance

Cleaning - periodic maintenance

Always change the filter after each descaling process and thus always keep the circuit clean. The Delonghi Magnificent coffee maker has a warning system that, depending on the hardness of the water and the number of coffees prepared, will notify you when decalcification is necessary. In any case, NEVER allow more than 6 months to pass between each descaling process.

The first thing we must do is have two large containers ready so that they can be filled while the coffee maker performs the decalcification process.
- Take out the water tank and remove the water filter.
- Pour water softener Delonghi Ecodecal up to the A mark for the reservoir (100 ml). the product comes prepared for decalcification or in one large bottle for 5 uses.
- Fill the tank with water up to the B mark on the tank. REMEMBER!!! You have to be careful and respect the amounts that the manufacturer marks so that the process is carried out correctly.
- Place the containers in the coffee outlet and in the steam outlet of the coffee maker and press the descaling warning button of the Delonghi Magnifica S for 5 seconds. Then, open the steam outlet tap knob. Now the coffee maker will start a cleaning process that lasts around 25 minutes. PATIENCE.
- The machine finishes with all the contents of the tank and warns of the end of this part of the process. You have to close the steam tap, remove the water tank and fill up to the MAX mark.
- When placing the tank, the coffee machine alert warns us that we must reopen the steam tap (and replace the containers) for the process to continue: the machine is going to start a rinsing process.
- At the end of the rinsing process, the steam tap must be closed again, the coffee maker will notify us that it has no water. Once we change the water filter and refill the tank, the coffee maker considers that the process has finished and is ready to use.
